We’re so excited to welcome Kris, a wonderfully whimsical artist, to The Bazaar on Apricot & Lime!

Gourds may not sound glamorous at first, but once you see what Kris does with them, you’ll never look at one the same way again. Known for their hard outer shells and funky shapes—round, elongated, or even warty—gourds are nature’s little sculptures. Because they’re dried and hollow inside, they last forever. And in Kris’s creative hands, they’re transformed into one-of-a-kind, personality-packed art pieces.

Kris first discovered her love of gourds back in the ’90s, after visiting a gourd store in Florida’s Panhandle. That spark of inspiration quickly became a lifelong passion. It’s no surprise—she’s always been a sculptor at heart!

Calling herself an artisan, Kris has been creating her entire life. Her first big step into the art world began in Ohio, where her talent caught so much attention that she was invited to California to manage an art co-op and continue her sculpting career.

Her inspiration? Making people laugh. Kris proudly calls herself a “three-dimensional comedian.” “I like to make people smile,” she says. “That’s why I make funny stuff.” Her creations radiate humor, joy, and the kind of quirky charm that perfectly fits the spirit of The Bazaar.

But gourds aren’t her only medium! Kris is currently working on a brand-new series of papier-mâché musicians, including none other than Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. They’ll be debuting soon—so get ready to rock and roll, Bazaar-style!

Come meet Kris and see her incredible creations in person at The Bazaar every Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. We promise—you’ll leave smiling.
