Meet MysticFlo Art: Where Original Art Becomes Wearable
We have a colorful new member of The Bazaar family, and her artwork doesn’t always hang on a wall. Sometimes, you wear it.
Meet Theresa of MysticFlo Art, whose space at The Bazaar on Apricot & Lime features original acrylic artwork along with a collection of activewear created from her paintings.
And when you ask Theresa what she likes to paint? Her answer makes us smile.
“I’m all over the place. Sometimes I do sea creatures, sometimes people. Always acrylic.”
We think “all over the place” fits right in around here.
From Canvas to Wearable Art
What makes MysticFlo’s activewear especially cool is that every design begins as an actual Theresa original. She first creates the artwork on canvas. The finished painting is then photographed and uploaded digitally, where Theresa manipulates and positions the artwork to work with the shape of each piece of activewear. A painting may be cropped, shifted or arranged differently depending on whether she thinks it looks best on leggings, a tank or another piece.
The result is truly wearable art.
Her current collection includes seven unique designs available on sports bras, high-waisted leggings, high-waisted shorts, including some with side pockets, and racerback tanks. She also offers solid basics that can be mixed and matched with her art-inspired pieces.
Even better, these are limited-edition designs. Theresa plans to continue creating and will introduce new artwork for next season’s collection.
An Artist Discovered
Here’s the part of Theresa’s story we really love: she hasn’t been doing this her whole life.
Theresa only started seriously creating art a little over three years ago. She was looking for a creative outlet and found herself doing art projects with her grandson. Somewhere between playing, creating, and experimenting, something clicked.
She realized she didn’t just enjoy making art. She had a passion for it. And talent.
Painting became a way for Theresa to relax, explore ideas, and simply see where her creativity would take her.
She got her start showing her work in the Village of the Arts and still has pieces available in that neck of the woods, as well as on Anna Maria Island. Now, we’re excited to add The Bazaar to that list.
From New Jersey to Florida...and Eventually The Bazaar
Originally from New Jersey, Theresa moved to our area 23 years ago and happily embraced the warmer Florida lifestyle. She’s also big into boating, which might help explain why sea creatures occasionally swim their way onto her canvases.
Her journey to The Bazaar actually began years before she became a vendor. A friend brought Theresa to The Bazaar, and she remembers thinking that this was somewhere she wanted to be one day.
Well, one day is officially here.
Theresa has joined our Bazaar family with MysticFlo Art, bringing both her wearable collection and original artwork. Right now, you’ll find fun 8" x 8" original acrylic pieces, with plans to bring in even more artwork and additional sizes.
