We’re thrilled to introduce the newest member of The Bazaar family: Joan Kershaw — a woman whose life story is as vibrant, adventurous, and nature-filled as her art.

Originally from Louisiana, Joan’s path to Sarasota was anything but ordinary. Before settling here in 1999, she and her husband spent 10 incredible years living in Puerto Rico, tending to a 38-acre tropical farm bursting with orchids, ginger, heliconia, star fruit, avocados, bananas, citrus, and even coffee.

After moving to Sarasota, Joan continued to weave nature into everything she touched. From 2002–2014, Floral Concept brought fresh arrangements and edible flower cuisine to the community — earning Joan the affectionate titles of “the food and flower nut” and the powerhouse behind RAW RA|W FOODS, a raw-food delivery service many locals still remember fondly.

But now, Joan is bringing her next chapter of creativity right here to The Bazaar on Apricot & Lime — a place she has always adored for its energy, its entertainment, and its eclectic spirit. When she learned that longtime vendor Chris Schroeder of PlantCraft Design was retiring, she felt inspired to bring her own natural magic to the space, calling it Woodland Wonder.

🌱 What You’ll Find in Joan’s Booth

Joan’s offerings bring the calming beauty of nature indoors:

Hand-crafted Moss Art

Air Plants sourced right here in Florida

Mushroom Grow Kits (her current obsession!)

Sprouting containers & plant-inspired goodies

If you’ve never grown mushrooms before, Joan is ready to convert you. These kits are so much fun — you can watch them grow and harvest your own in just 10 days. Beyond being delicious and surprisingly easy, mushrooms have a fascinating world of medicinal and healing properties that Joan loves sharing with others.

🌿 Bringing the Forest Home

Joan’s hope is simple and heartfelt: She wants customers to feel like they’re taking home a tiny piece of the forest. A reminder of the quiet calm you feel on a walk in the woods. A moment to breathe, slow down, and reconnect with nature — even in the middle of a busy day.

🌏 A Fun Fact You’ll Love

Joan once spent eight months in southern Thailand, teaching English to 33 energetic four-year-olds. (If that doesn’t earn her a superhero cape, we don’t know what does!)

Please join us in giving Joan the warmest Bazaar welcome. Stop by her booth, explore the textures and colors of her moss art, peek at those fast-growing mushrooms, and soak in the earthy tranquility she brings to our funky little community.

Find Joan in the former space of PlantCraft Designs every Thursday, Friday & Saturday from 10-3 at 821 Apricot Ave in Sarasota, Florida.

Welcome to the family, Joan! 🌿
